Overview of the Role

The Discipleship Pastor is a vital part of our Lead Team. This team serves as an extension of the ministry of the Lead Pastor and provides oversight of the ministries and daily operations of the church.


The Discipleship Pastor’s primary focus will be leading our people to GROW together in groups. This is a vital step in our discipleship path. You will be training, meeting, and mentoring, all with the goal of developing healthy small groups.

An undergraduate degree in Bible or seminary is required. Applicants should have at least 2 years of full-time ministry experience or similar career experience.

Responsibilities

General Pastoral Responsibilities

  • Preaching and teaching as needed.

  • General member care including hospital visits and pastoral counseling. 

  • Provide leadership in church-wide events and worship services as needed.

 

Discipleship Responsibilities:

  • Lead the discipleship efforts of the adults of FBC by working directly with the volunteer-led discipleship teams.

    • FBC Men

    • PrimeTimers (55+)

    • Strong Sisters (FBC Women)

    • Marriage + Family 

  • Develop a discipleship culture focused on discussion-based small groups, called Life Groups.

  • Develop and implement a process for leadership development within life group ministry.

  • Facilitate the assimilation of new attendees and members in small groups.

  • Oversee all other adult classes and teaching ministries of the church.

    • Wednesday Bible Study

    • Griefshare

    • Financial Peace

    • Fellowship Recovery Group

Family Care Responsibilties

  • Oversee Family Care Coordinator (FCC)

  • Work with the FCC to develop and implement all member care processes and continually improve the level of care and support provided to the members and attendees of the church.

 

The Discipleship Pastor will have an important secondary responsibility.
Secondary responsibilities(s) will be based on applicant skills and experience

  • Potential Secondary Responsibilities:

    • Facilities Oversight

      • Oversee the Facilities Staff + Care of the Facilities​

    • First Impressions

      • Oversee greeting, safety, and welcome teams.​

    • Video Design

      • Work with the Creative Director to produce videos for ministry needs.​

    • Worship Assistance

      • Based upon talents and giftings.​

    • Outreach & Missions Oversight

Salary and Benefits

  • This is a W-2 position paid salary. 

  • The estimated pay range is $40-60k/year depending on experience.

  • Paid cell phone service for yourself and your spouse.

  • MacBook Pro or similar computer provided.

  • 2 weeks paid vacation after 180 day introductory period.
